When did you know you were in love?
About our wedding
We’re so excited to be celebrating our wedding at O’Brien Farm Foundation, a place deeply rooted in the history of Irish farming families in St. John’s.
As O’Brien Farm is a protected heritage property and working museum, we kindly ask everyone to respect their rules. No outside alcohol, or smoking/alcohol use outside of their licensed areas so we can help preserve its charm for years to come!
You might have noticed that August 16th isn’t your typical wedding day… As wedding photographers, we’ve spent countless weekends behind the lens of traditional celebrations, so we knew we wanted our day to feel a little different. We’re leaning into what we love most: starting the day early, a good brunch, and a vibe that’s relaxed, joyful, and deeply personal.
Our wedding day is centered around the sentiment of family, honouring where we’ve come from, the life we’ve built together, and the family we hope to grow in the years ahead. We are so overjoyed to share that with our closest friends and family and hope that you will be too! Despite the early Sunday morning wake up. ;)
Things to do after the party is over!
Some of our favourite restaurants
terre
We went here for Taylor’s 27th birthday for the first time and adored it. You won’t regret getting the Chef’s Choice Menu, but bring an empty belly!
piatto
Our favourite “fancy pizza” place. Get the beet salad, a Stephanie, and a Tiramisu if you wanna do dinner like Tay. Paul prefers a Siciliana, a couple bites of Taylor’s “dolce” and a limoncello to finish it off.
Some of our favourite activities
salmonier nature park
You can find Taylor here every day of the week EXCEPT the day of the wedding… but that doesn’t mean that you can’t go! Say hi to Maple the moose for us!
bannerman park picnics
An old school haunt for Paul. Early in our relationship we would enjoy Wednesday night picnics at the back of Bannerman Park in front of the ball field. It’s a great way to spend an evening. And who knows! maybe you might get engaged there…
Strange how a phone call can change your day
Taylor and Paul met in the most 2018 way possible: Tinder. Taylor had recently emerged from a bad breakup and entered what they affectionately call her “Bachelorette Phase” which for her, was a time of saying yes openly, keeping things light, and definitely not looking for anything serious. It wasn't too long into her swiping spree that she met Paul. Newly back in Newfoundland after finishing school in Toronto, Paul was scrolling the apps to see what he’d missed while away from home. He swears he was carefully vetting profiles and not just "idly swiping while on the toilet," but either way, he saw Taylor’s bio ("Drinks Tetley tea by the case") and made his move. "I’m more of a Red Rose guy myself”, he messaged, and from there, they headed to Starbucks for their first date.
It didn't take long for Taylor to realize she was in over her head. She was falling fast for the gentle giant with the sweetly crooked smile, mesmerized by the way he talked so passionately about his dreams and the radio industry. Paul was immediately struck by Taylor in her yellow jacket and her calm, confident energy. They talked until the sun went down, and as Paul nervously walked Taylor to her car, he was actually about to turn away until she intervened: “Are you gonna kiss me?” He did, and a whirlwind romance followed. Paul was at Taylor’s apartment so often he basically lived there, and when they weren't together, they were glued to their phones (though looking back at those early Snapchats while building the wedding website was a truly humbling, cringe-inducing experience for us both).
A trip to Disney cemented things, and after a year together, they decided to get an apartment. Right before the move, Taylor "lost her mind" (as Paul likes to recount) and they adopted their first cat: a tiny calico kitten named Lady Josephine Jolene von Catto… ahem, Josie. When the pandemic hit shortly after, the world slowed down, but they grew closer. They found comfort in the quiet moments and figured out exactly what kind of partnership they wanted to build, which led to them taking the plunge into homeownership in 2020. Shortly after, naturally, Josie "needed a friend" (according to Taylor), and thus Violet the Ragdoll was welcomed into the family.
Skipping forward to 2024, Paul bought a ring. Then he told the sample girl at Hickory Farms in the mall. Then he called his mom. He immediately started planning an elaborate pre-Christmas proposal, but Canada Post went on strike and his custom Australian-made ring got stuck in mail limbo. Change of plans: Paul got the call on New Year’s Eve to pick up the ring and it started burning a hole in his pocket after approximately 3 hours. The anticipation starting to wear him down and he couldn’t wait a second more. Taylor likes recounting this part because Paul’s chaotic, joyful way of looking at life is one of her favorite things about him. After getting the blessing from Taylor’s mom and sister, Paul recruited his best friend, Paddy, to capture the moment at Bannerman Park.
What Paul didn't tell Paddy was that the chosen picnic spot was right next to the playground. Undeterred, Paddy spent the afternoon awkwardly hiding in the bushes dressed incognito with his phone camera out, waiting for the big moment. What Paddy also didn't know was that while he was staking out the shrubbery, Taylor was at home stubbornly telling Paul she didn't want to go for a walk because she had laundry to finish. The rest of the details will be theirs to hold, but Paul eventually managed to get Taylor out of the house, Paddy emerged from the park in one piece with the perfect photos, and Taylor said, “Of course.”
It’s hard to write a love story that spans almost eight years. Sometimes words fail to describe how complete a life becomes by the addition of one special person. Love may transcend language and art, but even when it can’t be explained, it can be felt. Taylor and Paul hope to see everyone at the wedding to witness their love, and to celebrate the fact that, in the end, the Red Rose guy officially won over the Bachelorette.

Matron of HonorIt’s hard to put into words what it means to have your little sister standing by your side on your wedding day. We’ve grown up together sharing childhood memories, inside jokes, and countless late-night talks, and there’s no one else I’d trust more to help me through this day (and every day after). She’s the heart of our family in so many ways, and I’m beyond grateful to have her not just as my sister, but as my Matron of Honour.

Best ManPaddy and Paul have been best friends since high school, a bond built on years of shared jokes and enough mischief to last a lifetime. From navigating the hallways together to navigating adulthood, Paddy has been the constant voice of support (and the primary source of bad influence) in Paul’s life.
Paul couldn’t imagine standing at the altar without the guy who’s had his back through it all.

Flower GirlSweet, spunky, and full of personality, Sandra is the bride’s beloved niece and the perfect little flower girl. She’s been bringing joy and laughter to the family since the day she arrived, and having her as part of the wedding day feels so special.
But, what will I wear?
“Garden Party Formal”
Ladies
Think elegant, polished, and playful—perfect for an outdoor celebration! Dresses or jumpsuits in light, flowy fabrics like chiffon, linen, or silk work beautifully, especially in soft or cheerful colours, floral prints, or pastels. Midi and maxi lengths are ideal.
Pair your look with dressy sandals, block heels, or wedges (stilettos may sink into the grass!) and don’t forget a sunhat or statement accessory if you’d like.
Gentlemen
Think sharp, yet relaxed—perfect for an outdoor setting. Lightweight suits or dress pants with a blazer in breathable fabrics like linen, cotton, or light wool are ideal. Soft colours, subtle patterns, or classic neutrals work well for a garden celebration.
Ties are optional but welcomed for a polished touch. Loafers, dress shoes, or clean leather sneakers work—just avoid anything too rugged. Sunglasses and a pocket square can add a fun, personal twist. No denim or black please..

Our wedding day is entirely outdoors at O’Brien’s farm. In the event of rain we have umbrellas on hand and brunch will be under the Kitchen Barn overhang.
-
We would have loved to celebrate with everyone but due to restrictions on our venue, we ask that only invited guests come to our ceremony and brunch reception.
-
Our venue is a beautiful modern barn on a historic victorian farm. Unfortunately that lovely farm has a strict maximum capacity for guests. We would love for a more-the-merrier type of party, but our venue cannot accommodate more than our designated guest list. If a plus one is provided to you, it will be listed on your invitation.
-
There is a parking lot a short walk away from the venue. It can get a little tight though so we recommend carpooling if you can to prevent any trouble parking on the road (and in the background of our ceremony). Please under no circumstances park in the Thistle Cottage driveway. This is reserved for emergency vehicles only.
-
Our ceremony will begin promptly at 11:30 AM, so please try to arrive fifteen minutes early. I love you all, but hope not to run into you while walking down the aisle.
-
We truly appreciate you checking in! Our guest list has been thoughtfully curated with a lot of love and care, and since we aren’t able to invite all of our extended family and acquaintances, we kindly ask that seats not be transferred or substituted. While we’ll miss anyone who can’t make it, we hope you understand that this helps us keep things fair and true to the intimate celebration we’ve planned.

Because photography is such a big part of our lives, we’ve created a simple dress guide to help keep the look of the day cohesive. We kindly ask guests to avoid dark colours and choose lighter, softer tones that photograph beautifully together. Thank you so much for helping us bring this vision to life.
We hope you’ll join us on this special day.
